Bagratashen is always open
Bagratashen–Sadakhlo is the main 24/7 crossing on the Yerevan–Tbilisi road. Bavra–Ninotsminda serves the Gyumri side, and Gogavan–Guguti is the quieter third option. Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and holidays in both countries are the busiest times.
Armenian compulsory insurance covers you only inside Armenia, and Georgia is not part of the international Green Card system. From the first meter on Georgian soil your car must carry Georgian compulsory insurance — fines start at 100 GEL and double on repeat checks.
Since January 1, 2026 every foreign citizen entering Georgia — children included — must hold travel medical insurance for the whole stay. Add it to the same checkout as the car policy and pay once.
