Driving from Ukraine to Georgia

Georgian car insurance for drivers from Ukraine

Ukrainian drivers usually reach Georgia through Türkiye — driving via Europe and entering at the Sarpi crossing near Batumi, or taking a Black Sea ferry when routes operate. Ukrainian insurance and the Green Card do not cover Georgia, so every Ukrainian-plated car needs a Georgian policy from entry. Buy it online at any point of the journey.

What Ukrainian drivers should know

The route runs through Türkiye

The practical road today goes through Europe and Türkiye, entering Georgia at the 24/7 Sarpi crossing on the Black Sea coast — about 20 km from Batumi. Some seasons also see Black Sea ferry links. Whichever way you come, the Georgian insurance requirement is the same.

Green Card does not include Georgia

Your Ukrainian policy and even a Green Card stop working at the Georgian border — Georgia is not a member of the Green Card system. A Georgian compulsory policy is required for the entire stay, and police verify it electronically by plate.

Longer stays, one checkout

Many Ukrainian families stay in Georgia for months — the 1-month and 1-year policies cover that without renewals. Since January 2026, every traveler also needs medical insurance for the whole stay; add all passengers in the same checkout.

Frequent questions from Ukrainian drivers

Can I buy the policy before I reach the Sarpi crossing?

Yes — buy it online from anywhere en route and set the start date to your planned entry day. The policy arrives by email and the digital document is accepted at Sarpi and everywhere in Georgia.

We are staying in Georgia long-term. What about renewals?

Take the 1-year policy — it is the cheapest per day and removes the renewal problem entirely. If your plans are shorter, the 1-month policy can be bought again online from inside Georgia in the same 3 minutes.
