Since 1 January 2026 every tourist entering Georgia needs health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay. The rule comes from Government Resolution No. 602 and applies to every nationality; visa-free entry does not change it.
Travel medical insurance
Travel medical cover for visitors and travellers staying in Georgia.
Buy medical insuranceIs a Ukrainian policy accepted?
Yes, if it meets four conditions:
- it covers Georgia;
- it is valid every day of your stay, from the day you enter to the day you leave;
- the insured sum is at least GEL 30,000 or the equivalent in another currency;
- the certificate is in English or Georgian. A document in Ukrainian or Russian only does not meet the rule — ask your insurer for the English version.
Where it is checked
Border guards may check the policy on entry. Keep the PDF where it opens without mobile internet.
Driving
Travel insurance covers the people. A car on foreign plates also needs Georgian compulsory car insurance; Georgia is not part of the Green Card system.
Buying a Georgian policy
Georgian APPA arranges a Unison Insurance certificate in English for your dates — 3 to 180 days — for every traveller in one order, paid by card. It states the GEL 30,000 insured sum and arrives by email within minutes. Support is on WhatsApp and Telegram around the clock. Buy travel insurance.
