Do children need travel insurance to enter Georgia?

Yes. Resolution No. 602 applies to every tourist entering Georgia and sets no age limit, so a child needs the same health and accident cover as an adult: at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay, in Georgian or English. A child may be named on a family policy or hold a certificate of their own — what matters is that the document shows the child's name as in their passport, the dates and the insured sum. Through Georgian APPA each child is added as a separate traveller in the same order, with their own certificate and a price for their age band.

What a child's policy has to show

  • The child's name exactly as in their passport or travel document, and the document number.
  • Dates that cover the whole stay — the same arrival and departure days as the adults.
  • An insured sum of at least GEL 30,000 for that child. On a family policy, check that the limit is per person, not shared.
  • Georgian or English wording, on paper or on a phone.

How to insure a family through Georgian APPA

  • The buyer must be an adult; each insured person can be any age the price bands cover, so a parent buys for the children.
  • Add every traveller to the order one by one — name, passport number, date of birth, citizenship — then pay once for all of them.
  • Each person receives their own Unison Insurance certificate by email. Keep all of them on one phone for passport control.
  • The price for each person depends on their age band and the number of days and is shown before payment.

Infants and children without a passport

A child needs a travel document to cross the border, and the insurance certificate must match it. If the child is entered in a parent's passport, use that passport number for the child in the order and make sure the child's name is spelled as the border officer will read it.

What parents ask

Is there a minimum age for the insurance rule?

No. The resolution covers every tourist entering Georgia, so a baby needs cover as much as an adult.

Can one policy cover the whole family?

Yes, as long as every family member is named on it and the insured sum applies to each person. Through Georgian APPA each family member gets their own certificate, which avoids any doubt about shared limits.

Does a child pay the same as an adult?

No. The price depends on the age band. Through Georgian APPA cover starts from $3.62 per person per day; the form shows each traveller's price before you pay.

What if a child travels with grandparents or a group?

Any adult can be the buyer and insure a child who is not their own. Enter the child's details as in their travel document and keep the certificate with the adult who is travelling with the child.
