What the legal requirement is
Foreign-registered vehicles driven in Georgia must carry compulsory third-party liability insurance for the period they are in the country. Georgian APPA is an independent online intermediary that helps travelers arrange this cover online; it is not a government body or the insurer itself.
Official passenger-car durations and statutory premiums
For passenger cars, Georgian law provides these standard compulsory TPL durations and premiums:
- 15 days — 30 GEL
- 30 days — 50 GEL
- 90 days — 90 GEL
- 1 year — 295 GEL
Georgian APPA may currently offer selected online durations at its own customer prices. If a particular duration is not shown in checkout, that does not change the official legal tariff structure.
What the policy covers
Compulsory TPL covers third-party liability only. It can respond to injury, death, disability, and property damage caused to other people, subject to the statutory limits of the compulsory system. It does not cover damage to your own vehicle.

Separate medical-insurance rule
Since January 1, 2026, most foreign visitors entering Georgia also need health and accident insurance for the whole stay with a minimum insured sum of 30,000 GEL. That is a separate requirement from motor TPL, and certain categories are exempt under Georgian law.
