Aleko
The first proper Georgian meal after the border
GGFX+2WC, E70, Sarpi, Adjara, Georgia — 2 min from the Sarpi border crossing
Aleko is a small, family-run Georgian kitchen in Sarpi, a couple of minutes past the Sarpi–Sarp border crossing on the E70. It is the highest-rated place in the village and an easy first stop before the 20-minute drive on to Batumi. This is home cooking rather than fine dining: hearty Georgian staples, generous plates, a terrace looking out over the Black Sea and a family that runs the room themselves. Reviewers come back to the same three words again and again — home cooking, large portions, reasonable prices.
APPA tip
Portions here are famously large. Two people ordering three dishes will almost certainly over-order — start with a khachapuri and one main between you, and add more if you are still hungry. The menu shows a 10% service charge.
