Shavi Lomi ("Black Lion") is one of Tbilisi's best-known modern Georgian restaurants, on a quiet street in Chughureti, a short walk from Marjanishvili. It feels more like an old Tbilisi home than a restaurant: colourful rooms filled with vintage Georgian plates and tablecloths, a green courtyard and tables outside. The menu is rooted in Georgian cooking, but the classics are often given a lighter, more modern treatment. It is a good choice once you have already had your fill of the usual khinkali and khachapuri and want to see another side of the cuisine. There are vegetarian and vegan options, and it works well for an unhurried lunch or dinner. Restaurant Guru lists an average spend of about ₾26–65 per person.
