Pricing

How much does Georgian car insurance cost by vehicle type?

Georgian compulsory third-party insurance is priced on two things only: the category of the vehicle and how long the cover runs. A motorcycle costs less than a passenger car, a passenger car less than a bus or a truck, and a trailer is cheaper than any of them. Nothing about the driver — age, licence length, claims history — and nothing about the value of the car changes the price. Prices for every duration we sell are read live from the checkout, so this page and the order form can never disagree.

The vehicle categories

  • Motorcycle — the cheapest category.
  • Passenger car — what most private travellers buy, and the category the prices on this page refer to.
  • Bus — passenger-carrying vehicles above car size.
  • Truck — goods vehicles, the most expensive category.
  • Trailer — insured separately from the vehicle towing it, and priced lower than any powered category.
  • Agricultural and specialised self-propelled machinery — its own category, between car and truck.

What changes the price, and what does not

Duration is the other half of the calculation. We sell 15 days, one month and one year; Georgian law also recognises a 90-day term, which is not one of our packages. The longer terms cost less per day — an annual policy works out at roughly a tenth of the daily rate of a 15-day one, which is why drivers who cross a border every month take the year.

Nothing else moves the figure. There is no no-claims discount, no age loading, no engine-capacity surcharge and no valuation of the vehicle, because compulsory cover pays third parties rather than repairing your car. Two identical trips in a new SUV and a twenty-year-old hatchback cost the same.

What the price buys

  • Injury or death of a third party: up to 30 000 GEL per person, 300 000 GEL for one event.
  • Medical costs for an injured third party: up to 15 000 GEL per person.
  • Damage to third-party property: up to 25 000 GEL per victim, 50 000 GEL per event.
  • Cover valid across Georgia from the start date until 23:59 on the expiry date, on paper or electronically.

Two policies people confuse

Compulsory car insurance covers the damage a vehicle does to other people. Travel medical insurance covers the health of the people travelling, and since 1 January 2026 most foreign visitors must hold it for their whole stay with an insured sum of at least GEL 30,000. They are separate purchases with separate prices, and one does not substitute for the other.

Pricing questions

How much is Georgian car insurance for a passenger car?

For a passenger car: about $20.00 for 15 days, $30.00 for one month, and $150.00 for a full year.

Does the engine size or the age of my car change the price?

No. Compulsory third-party cover is priced by vehicle category and duration only. The engine capacity is recorded on the policy, but it does not change what you pay.

Is a trailer covered by the car's policy?

No. A trailer is its own category and is insured separately, although damage caused by a trailer attached to an insured vehicle falls within the compulsory system.

Why is the year so much cheaper per day?

The daily rate falls sharply with the length of the term. On a 15-day policy a passenger car works out at $1.33 a day; the annual policy covers the same car for a fraction of that per day, so it pays for itself after a handful of trips.

Is this the same price as at the border?

It is the same compulsory cover under the same law. Our price is a retail price that includes the service and card costs of arranging it online; the border booths sell the same product in lari, with a queue attached.

Can I get a refund if I leave Georgia early?

No. The policy is written for a fixed period and an unused remainder is not refundable, so choose a term that matches the trip rather than over-buying.
