From Belarus

Do citizens of Belarus need travel insurance for Georgia?

Yes. Since 1 January 2026 every tourist entering Georgia, Belarusian citizens included, needs health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay, under Resolution No. 602. Visa-free entry does not change this. A Belarusian policy is accepted only if it covers Georgia, every day of the trip and the full sum, and the certificate is in English or Georgian — one in Russian only does not meet the rule. A Georgian policy through Georgian APPA is issued by Unison Insurance in English and emailed within minutes.

What the rule means for travellers from Belarus

  • Every traveller needs cover, children included: health and accident insurance for Georgia, every day of the stay, at least GEL 30,000.
  • The certificate must be in English or Georgian. If your Belarusian insurer issues it in Russian only, ask for an English version or buy a Georgian policy.
  • Border guards may check the policy on arrival. Keep the PDF where it opens without mobile internet.

Driving through Russia

A car journey from Belarus through Russia enters Georgia at Upper Lars (Dariali), the only land crossing between Russia and Georgia. Queues in season can take many hours and coverage at the border is unreliable, so buy both policies before the trip. A car on Belarusian plates needs Georgian car insurance; Georgia is not part of the Green Card system.

Buying a Georgian policy

Georgian APPA arranges a Unison Insurance travel medical certificate for your exact dates — 3 to 180 days — for every traveller in one order, paid by card. It states the GEL 30,000 insured sum and arrives by email within minutes. If your card does not go through, write to support on WhatsApp or Telegram, available around the clock.

What travellers from Belarus ask

I can enter Georgia without a visa. Do I still need insurance?

Yes. Visa-free entry and the insurance rule are separate; Resolution No. 602 applies to all tourists. Check current entry conditions on geoconsul.gov.ge.

Will a Belarusian travel policy be accepted?

Yes, if it covers Georgia, all your dates and at least GEL 30,000, and the certificate is in English or Georgian.

Can one order cover the whole family?

Yes. Add every traveller with their date of birth; each gets their own certificate and the total is shown before payment.

How much does it cost?

Each traveller is priced by age band and days, from $3.62 per person per day.
